There is a population of about 617,996 people in the District of Columbia. The statistics above show the average scores in math, reading, and writing in the district. You can see that there is not too much progress in the district in mathematics because the average rate stays at .08 for three years. However, in 2011 is the best year the district has ever had for mathematics reports reporting 59 percent achievement level at or above basic level which is not too great, but is not terrible. When I compared this rate to other districts, surprisingly, district of columbia took the lead for achievement level against big cites like Boston, Detroit, etc. Reading is very poor in the district having a 44 percent rate of people at or above the basic level of reading. District of Columbia is certainly lacking performance in the reading area. However, when I compared this number to the larger cities it was still higher. As far as the writing statistics go, it only gives 2002 data, which I did not find too helpful. Funding information was very difficult to find for district of Columbia and I could actually use some help on finding the resources on it. Once I have the resources like everyone else got from the librarian, I will be able to explore and record just as much information on my district as everybody else. With the lack of resources I have been offered, there is not much I can do so far.
